Generation Alpha (Gen Alpha)
noun phrase

Generation Alpha (or Gen Alpha for short) is the demographic cohort succeeding Generation Z.

Researchers and popular media use the early 2010s as the starting birth years and the mid-2020s as the ending birth years. Named after the first letter in the Greek alphabet, Generation Alpha is the first to be born entirely in the 21st century.

Which generation are you?

- Traditionalists = born between 1928 - 1945
- Baby Boomers = born between 1946 - 1964
- Generation X = born between 1965 - 1980
- Generation Y = born between 1981 - 1995
- Generation Z = born between 1996 - 2009
- Generation Alpha = born between 2010 - now

BTW, Yours truly is a Baby Boomer :)

TALKING POINT

2018 was the first time when the number of people above 65 years of age (705 million) exceeded those between the ages of zero and four (680 million). In other words, this was the first year in which there were more grandparents than grandchildren!
