means precisely meaningful; forceful and brief - as in:
"He made a pithy comment."

Origin: Pith refers to the white substance under the peel (die Schale) of a citrus fruit, it also means force or energy. Pithy is something that consists of, or has a lot of pith.
Both pith and pithy are derived from the Old English "pitha". Pithy is traced back to the 1500s, but pith was around before the 12th century.
