Thank you for the muzak - now the Co-op has found a way to stop gangs hanging round its store fronts - by playing muzak at the front of its stores.
The results have been great : the company has found teenagers don't want to be associated with hanging round a venue where such music is played - it's not good for their image!

Did you know?
muzak
Muzak is meant to provide a pleasant atmosphere through background music which is not intrusive to the listener. For instance in shops, pubs, restaurants and other public places.
The most irritating examples of muzak are to be heard when telephone switchboards put you "on hold".
The word muzak first appeared in the "Trade Marks Journal" in 1938 - "combining Kodak and music".
