"Christine Hamilton, knows a BATTLEAXE when she sees one. This book tells the story of when one MP told Nancy Astor that he didn't know what to make of Winston Churchill, she said "How about a nice rug?" You will not be surprised to know that she rates Margaret Thatcher as "the BATTLEAXE of the Century -- perhaps even of the Millennium".

Did you know?
Battleaxe (or battleax)...
...when used to describe a person means "a sharp-tongued domineering (usually older) woman."
The obvious meaning of battleaxe dates from the 14th century and was a broadaxe formerly used as a weapon of war
This term must be a recent male invention, I can't find a 'male-only' equivalent, nor a good German translation - do let me know if you find one.
