- a short filmclip that appears after all or some of the closing film credits have finished (also sometimes after a production logo of a film, TV series, or video game have run). It is usually included for humour, or as a teaser for a possible sequel.

ORIGIN

In the old days, movies were over when they were over. Upon reading “THE END”, audiences would stand up and start filing out of the theatre. Hardly anyone stayed to read the credits to the end and by the time they had finished the theatre would be empty.

But in the early 60s, movie-makers invented a new genre now called “the stinger”, an unexpected message or scene which starts when all the credits have finished, or even while they are rolling.

It all began with the 1963 James Bond film, From Russia with Love, which featured a “James Bond will return” message.

The credits of many Pixar films, including A Bug's Life (1998), Finding Nemo (2003), The Good Dinosaur (2015) and Finding Dory (2016), have included comedy. Other Pixar films, such as Cars (2006), Toy Story 3 (2010), and Inside Out (2015), have included an epilogue that plays during the credits.
