Would you stand up and walk out on me.
LEND ME YOUR EARS and I’ll sing you a song,
And I’ll try not to sing out of key.”

I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him.”

PHRASE ORIGIN

We can thank Shakespeare for today’s phrase. In the master’s work Julius Caesar, Marc Anthony is presiding over Caesar’s burial after the conspirators in the Roman Senate have stabbed the Roman leader to death. Anthony implores the crowd to “lend me your ears” and convinces them to drive the assassins from the city.
