WORD ORIGIN
Me thinks, also written methinks, is an archaic expression that falls into a little known category of English grammar called the "ethical dative." It's also referred to as the "dative of interest." It's defined as "a use of the dative of a pronoun to signify that the person or thing spoken of is regarded with interest by someone.
So instead of saying "I think…", using the ethical dative we then say "me thinks," which is the same as saying "to me…"
A more common example of the ethical dative would be a sentence like "My car quit on me." This simply states that the car stopped working. Adding the dative pronoun "on me" emphasises that this event had an impact on me.
Although still used to some extent, the ethical dative is losing importance in English grammar and is considered by many to be a vulgar form. Nevertheless, there are still those of us who use it to give a sentence or statement an informal and/or humorous tone.
