idiom

- to match one's words with action

The phrase "walk the talk" stems from the expression "if you're going to talk the talk, you have to walk the walk." In other words, if you are going to talk about it, then do it. Similar phrases have surfaced over the years, such as "talk is cheap" and "actions speak louder than words."

Walk the talk belongs to a growing list of overused business expressions. Many people have grown weary of these so-called "buzzwords" or "management speak", which one often hears in meetings, conference calls and presentations. As an antidote, some unknown clever person created "bullshit bingo".

Before a presentation as an example, colleagues get together and fill out 5 X 5 bingo cards with words and phrases like "low-hanging fruit", "think outside the box", "win-win" and "synergy". When the presenter uses one of the hated phrases, the card holders mark them. Like in normal bingo, the goal is to be the first one to fill out a horizontal, vertical or diagonal row. Standing up and shouting "bullshit!" at this point is not a good idea however.
