TLC, an abbreviation for the expression "tender loving care," is used frequently to describe something that needs to be fixed or repaired.

"I know the house doesn't look like much at the moment. It just needs a little TLC."

It is also used a when someone puts a lot of effort and passion into restoring an object, oftentimes as a hobby.

"You can tell he put a lot of TLC into that old car. He wouldn't sell it for any amount of money in the world."

Of course, animals and humans require TLC sometimes.

"I got a cat from the animal shelter. She's a little shy and scared at the moment, but with some TLC she will make a good pet."
