In the film version of the 1949 musical South Pacific written by Rodgers & Hammerstein, Italian actor Rossano Brazi sings a love song to Mitzi Gaynor in one of the more enchanting scenes. The name of the song: Some Enchanted Evening.

Some enchanted evening, you may see a stranger
You may see a stranger, across a crowded room.
And somehow you know, you know even then
That somewhere you'll see her, again and again.

As older generations tend to say, they don't make them like that anymore.

Some may have noticed that today's word is an adjective with the -ing suffix, but in the song example the same adjective takes the -ed form.

- Adjectives that end in -ed describe emotions – they tell us how people feel about something (I'm bored)

- Adjectives that end with -ing describe the thing that causes the emotion (The meeting was boring)

Adjectives that are used in the passive form, such as in our song example, usually take the -ed ending however.
