The great Greek philosopher Aristotle once said "In all things of nature there is something of the marvellous." How true. From Patagonia and the Normandy coast to the Grand Canyon and the Amazon rain forest, the spectacle of nature is on display in every part of the world.

Nature has a much more pragmatic side however. Take regurgitation for instance. Birds in particular regurgitate food they have eaten as a way to feed their young. This is especially practical behaviour for animal species in which the young are kept at a fixed location and the adults must hunt or forage for food.

Humans don't regurgitate unless something is wrong however. It usually means we are sick and have to vomit or we suffer from what is now commonly called "acid reflux," another term for heartburn.

In a figurative sense regurgitate means to repeat information without thinking much about what you are saying. It often has a negative connotation and implies that someone is just repeating something they or maybe someone else has said or heard and is thus lacking originality.
