frills (usually plural)
noun

- extra things that are added to something to make it more pleasant or more attractive, but that are not necessary

(Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary)

---
In an effort to attract customers and carve out a market niche, companies in some industries adopt "no frills" strategies. In other words, offer the customer a basic product or service, avoid expensive extras and lower the price. No-frills airlines are a good example. For instance, Ryanair and EasyJet offer reduced fares by eliminating things like free beverages and reserved seats and installing pay toilets.

No-frills airlines have also been ridiculed as this joke illustrates:

You know you are travelling on a no-frills airline when:

- All the insurance machines in the terminal are sold out

- Before take off, the cabin attendant tells you to fasten your Velcro

- You cannot board without the exact change.

- A man with a gun is demanding to be let off the plane.
