In 2010, an e-mail began circulating with the claim that the month of August was special. An August with five Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays supposedly occurs only once every 823 years. The e-mail further said that according to Chinese Feng Shui, these years are referred to as "moneybags". Anyone who refused to forward the e-mail to another person would thus end up in the poor house.

A glance at previous year's calendars brings us to another conclusion however. August has five Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays whenever the month begins on a Sunday (like in 2010). And because of the Leap Year, this happens in an irregular pattern of every 6 years, every 5 years, every 6 years and every 11 years, after which the pattern is repeated. That's a big "leap" to every 823 years.

On the other hand, the year 2011 is indeed special:

- This year includes the following dates - 1/1/11, 1/11/11, 11/1/11 and 11/11/11.

- Take the last two digits of your birth year and add the age you will be this year. The result is 111 for everyone.
