lopsided
adjective

- noticeably heavier, bigger, or lower on one side; not symmetrical

- not balanced; uneven

Webster's New World College Dictionary

---
Lopsided can be used in a literal sense to describe something that is crooked, uneven and not straight. Like a young man whose baseball cap is worn lopsided. That might be intentional however, because in some circles it's considered fashionable, or at least cool.

The fence you installed might be lopsided for instance. Or how about that kitchen table that you try to keep from being lopsided by stuffing a wad of paper under the one short leg? Much as we would like to prevent things from being lopsided, we don't live in a straight world.

Lopsided is also used in a figurative sense to describe something that is one-sided. That might be an opinion (Some people were not satisfied with what they considered a lopsided report). It is also used in sports to note a game or competition that really wasn't much of a competition. When Germany defeated the host team Brazil during the 2014 World Cup with a score of 7-1, that was a lopsided victory - or for Brazil a lopsided defeat.

Lopsided was originally spelled "lapsided," which referred to a ship that leans to one side, or "heels" to one side as a sailor would say.
