Prior to his bout with heavyweight champ Lennox Lewis, Mike Tyson held a memorable press conference in which he declared:
"I'm the best ever. I'm the most brutal and vicious and most ruthless champion there's ever been. There's no one could stop me. Lennox is a conqueror? No, I'm Alexander. He's no Alexander. I'm the best ever. There's never been anybody as ruthless. I'm Sonny Liston. I'm Jack Dempsey. There's no one like me. I'm from their cloth. There's no one that can match me. My style is impetuous. My defence is impregnable. And I'm just ferocious. I want your heart. I want to eat his children."
Lewis was later asked whether Tyson's threats had scared him. "Mike Tyson is an imbecile," he replied. "What do you say to a guy who says he's going to shoot you in the head? The guy doesn't even know me. It doesn't make any sense. He says he wants to eat my kids. I don't even have any kids! The man needs help."
Tyson's defence proved not to be impregnable after all. Lewis knocked him out in the 8th round.
