(Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary)
--- 1950s Hollywood starlet Jane Mansfield was not shy about flaunting her appearance. She appeared as Playboy's Playmate of the Month in February 1955 and often announced to men at Hollywood parties that she wasn't wearing panties or a bra. She knew she looked good and wasn't shy about it. On one occasion, as legend has it, Mansfield strolled down Sunset Boulevard wearing nothing but a slender pink ribbon.
Not everyone was impressed though. Hollywood actress Bette Davis once commented on Mansfield's mediocre acting skills: "Her idea of dramatic art is knowing how to fill out a sweater."
Usage note: Flaunt and flout are often mistakenly interchanged. To flaunt is to show off and to flout is to treat with contempt or disregard.
