With some roly-poly little bat-faced girl.
All along, along
There were incidents and accidents,
There were hints and ALLEGATIONS

allegation
noun

- a claim or assertion that someone has done something illegal or wrong, typically one made without proof

An allegation can be informal, such as if someone "alleges" that you forgot to put new paper in the copy machine. Or maybe a "friend" is telling people what a horrible driver you are. But they have no proof. That makes their claim an allegation.

We normally would not use the term allegation in this situation however. Instead, we might say something like "He accused me of not filling up the copy machine with paper. Not true!"

In most cases allegation is applied in an official context, such when a crime is thought to have occurred (The bank is facing serious allegations of corruption at the highest levels). That usually means there is an official investigation of the claim to determine if the accused is guilty or not.

Allegation stems from the Middle French allégation and ultimately from the Latin allegationem (nominative allegatio) "a sending or dispatch."

Allegation should not be confused with "alligation," an old and practical method of solving arithmetic problems related to mixtures of ingredients, nor with "allegory," a literary mechanism that functions like an extended metaphor in which hidden meanings are conveyed with symbolic figures, actions and images.
