Did you know?

clothes horse (also written as clotheshorse)
noun phrase

- a frame on which wet clothes can be hung to dry, usually used inside the house

(Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary)

- a person excessively concerned with dress

(American Heritage Dictionary)

---
In laundry terms, a clothes horse is a drying rack. It is designed to be folded when it is not needed. When unfolded, it reveals an assortment of rods on which clothing can be hung to dry. A clothes horse is vital for delicate clothing that should be hand washed. It can also be useful to keep one around for drying sweaters and coats that have been soaked in the rain.

The clothes horse should not be confused with the SAW HORSE (a kind of rack on which sticks of wood are laid for sawing by hand), the POMMEL HORSE (a piece of equipment used in gymnastics, which stands on four legs, and has two handles on the top that you hold and swing your body and legs around) or the HOBBY HORSE (a toy made from a long stick with a shape like a horse's head at one end, which a child can pretend to ride).
